Building Survey
A building survey is more comprehensive than a home buyers report and is not prepared in a standard format. A building survey may be the best choice if:
- The property you are buying was built before 1919.
- The property is of a non-standard construction (eg it has a thatched roof or stone walls).
- The property is in poor condition and/or has an obvious structural defect (eg a crack in the wall, or a wonky door or window frame).
- The property is particularly large or expensive.
The typical cost of a building survey on an average sized property is in excess of £350 plus VAT. The cost of a building survey on a very large or unusual property could be several times as much.
