Working for an Adventure Travel Company
An increasingly frequent sight on the overland routes through Africa and Asia are converted Bedford trucks taking travelers on overland tours. These are not only a good way to see the countries involved but the companies also employ drivers, cooks and mechanics. Sometimes the job will involve doing all three, in which case you will need either a Heavy Goods Vehicle Licence (HGV) or Passenger Service Vehicle Licence (PSV). Competition for these places is fierce and many of them are given to experienced people.
What Will the Work Entail?
- Long hours.
- Mechanical knowledge required.
- Low pay but travel formalities are taken care of.
- Essential to get on with people in claustrophobic conditions.
- Stamina and endurance a must.
