UK Long Residency Visa
The long residency visa is divided into two types - the ten-year visa and the 14-year visa.
The ten-year visa may be considered if the applicant has been legally resident in the UK with Home Office approval for ten years. Usually, if successful, the applicant will be allowed to the remain in the UK without time limitation, and granted Indefinite Leave To Remain (ILR).
The 14-year visa may be considered if the applicant has been resident in the UK for more than 14 years legally or illegally. Again this will normally qualify the applicant for Indefinite Leave to Remain status as it will be deemed that he/she considers the UK to be their home. This type of application will be considered as long as there are no strong countering issues, such as a criminal record.
There is also the ability to apply for a visa after seven years. This may be considered if a person has remained in the UK for more than seven years where that person is facing removal from the UK and he/she has young children with them in the UK who have also resided in the UK for more than seven years.
