Join any group - Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Lions, your children's school committee or sporting and interest groups like tennis or sailing clubs - and speak to everybody that you meet or do business with - lawyer, real estate or insurance agents - about possible job opportunities.

The website www.careers.co.nz gives a guide to salaries and conditions, with jobs listed in alphabetical order, industry or interest areas. Salary details, training requirements and current market demand are also provided.

All the major daily and local newspapers have situations vacant columns. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday editions carry the most extensive job vacancy sections.

Most international placement and recruitment agencies that handle executive and professional management positions are represented in New Zealand. You do not have to pay an employment agency a fee and they will contact you when a suitable position becomes available.
