Car Rental in France
As in other countries, cars may be rented from agencies at airports, railway stations and other locations in cities and towns. All the major international car rental firms have agencies, and Europcar is the leader, as it is across Europe. In the market of some six million rentals a year, two French rental companies, both with franchised agencies, are highly competitive:
- ADA car rentals, now fourth largest in the country with more than 480 agencies, Tel: 0825169169, www.ada.fr.
- UCAR utility vehicle rentals, with 250 agencies, Tel: 0892881010, www.ucar.fr.
As elsewhere, rental prices vary by size and type of vehicle, company, season, duration of rental and location. The legal minimum age for rental is 18, but many companies require a minimum age of 21 or 23, and a renter must have a driving licence valid in the EU/EEA and have held it for at least one year. Otherwise, car rental particulars are like those elsewhere in Europe; for further information, contact any car rental company or visit its website and read the conditions de vente or conditions generates de location.
