Known to many of the locals as Bris Vegas, the city of Brisbane is a jungle of cultural activities and attractions. Story Bridge
This impressive Brisbane landmark is one of Australia's finest bridges and is a historical landmark. Built in the early 1940s to link the city with Kangaroo Point, its construction was a triumph of local ingenuity. Sixty years on, it has become a major tourist attraction for visitors who wish to climb it!
The Gabba
Brisbane's most prized sporting venue and home to many of Australia's largest cricket matches. Many consider it hallowed turf.
South Bank
A short stroll from the CBD is the South Bank Parklands - a popular leisure destination since the site was host to the World Expo held in Australia in 1988. Home to the city's only man-made beach, the South Bank has become a mecca for locals and visitors to Brisbane.

Queensland Performing Arts Centre
Opera and theatre lovers should check the local papers for details of current performances at the Optus Playhouse, Lyric Theatre, Concert Hall and Cremorne Theatre. These venues are all part of the Performing Arts Centre complex.
Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Resort
Located on the sheltered western side of Moreton Island, this popular resort is one of the few places in the world where you are allowed to interact with wild dolphins. A variety of accommodation is available, and tours of the island and water sports, such as sailing and windsurfing, are popular. Fast cat ferry services operate daily from the Holt Street Dock, off Kingsford-Smith Drive, Brisbane.
